Multi-Functional System

Some sites aren’t naturally ideal for growing a first class lawn on and sometimes a lawn drainage system is required to enable the lawn to flourish. Poorly drained lawns are more often than not the result of a heavy clay soil and poor drainage that can lead to waterlogged turf. Drainage issues are often more than just a potential hazard; they often can be harmful to your landscape as well. Proper drainage is important to your lawn and landscape as is proper irrigation. Standing water near plants or in your lawn can cause lawn disease and root disease in many common plants. Some plants and trees can even be killed by excess standing water. Overly damp soil conditions also encourage the growth of lawn menaces such as moss and these can quickly take over the lawn and have a negative impact on the vigor and strength of the lawn.

Do you need a lawn drainage system? Terry’s Cut, Trim and Irrigation will carefully evaluate your site conditions to design and install an appropriate drainage system to your location that will meet the needs of your site while complying with local storm water laws. Our systems are constructed using rigid PVC pipe, wide roll protective filter fabric, and plenty of 2 ½" crushed stone for drainage. We will shoot elevations and calculate both flow rates and pipe sizing to ensure that your system will work as intended. Our equipment uses wide rubber tracks that operate excellent in swampy, wet areas which are usually found in drainage applications. These wide track machines enable our company to install a professional drainage system in much less time and with much less damage to existing lawns. Because larger French Drain systems are constructed below ground and may require as much as fifty to seventy-five tons of stone, it is imperative to hire a contractor who understands the nature and limitations of water flow and is using dedicated track equipment. This ensures that your project will be designed correctly and will be installed with materials that function as intended.

Terry’s Cut, Trim and Irrigation installs French Drain systems. A French drain system is a multi-functional system that can drain water away from unwanted collection areas and relocate the water in suitable areas. A French drain can also act as a storage location for water until the water has had time to absorb back into the ground in approved areas. A French drain is usually a gravel filled trench with a perforated pipe in the center of it. The pipe, pitched at one degree or more, will allow water in and out of it, through the gravel, to be reabsorbed by the surrounding soil.
